Something you never think about, yet it keeps you alive
In my recent quest to become more in control of my mind and body I have looked into the eastern martial arts. If you want to see extreme control over body and mind you should take a look into the abilities of life long students of arts like t’ia chi and jujutsu. The extreme control they have achieved over the entire spectrum of their lives is amazing and science cannot explain where they are able summon up incredible energy and strength from inside their bodies!
The concepts that these martial arts offer up are basically very simple from the outside and I was amazed to see how they very closely mirrored concepts I had already learned in my life. Ideas that are not taken seriously in the normal day to day person and easily dismissed. Yet there are secrets that remain buried all over the world that the population has forgotten. Even the greatest computers and scientist remain puzzled by the feats that people thousands of years ago were able to accomplish, and even with all of our equiptment and technology we would not be able to copy such feats. A quick example is the pyramids in Egypt.
Look for a moment at your daily routines. Usually full of things you need to do and thoughts weighing on your mind. You jump out of bed and get started and the day passes just like every day before.
When was the last time you started a day with thankfulness and appreciation for the wonderful body and spirit you posess? Took a moment to summon up all of your abilities and run a pre-flight check of all your systems?
Instead we first test our eyes to make sure they open, then the alarm clock, and then maybe our cell phone for anything new.Next comes the morning news,or to see if the paper carrier screwed up and threw your paper in the ditch. You check to see if there is anything for breakfast and the list goes on.
We look outside of ourselves all the time because we believe that the ‘real’ world is all that counts. We are caught up in the hustle of our day to day, lost in what ‘has’ to be done and not taking time for something far more important.
We do not give any thought to what strength we have inside of us,or taking time to exercise it. The power that is harnessed beneath our skin is almost limitless, yet out of this ocean our mind has issued us a sippy cup…..
It is true. Look inside for just a moment and tell me that it is not close to correct… I have a big gulp inside, but I am working up to the full two liter. Next I want to get the 55 gallon drum and on from there….
Here is a quick exercise that will help you in the morning and start you on the path to ultimate energy for your life.
When you wake up instead of checking anything outside of yourself, stand up and close your eyes. Take a deep breath, draw the air in and feel it as it make it’s path through your nose, traveling down your esophagus and down to your lungs. Experience the expanding of your lung tissues and the slight exchange between your blood and the oxygen. Hold it for an instant before releasing. Keep concentrating on the miracle of your body functioning. Fully exhale and examine the sensation that being without air brings to your lungs. Repeat the process for a few minutes, breathing deeply and slowly. Take pleasure in just breathing.
Now because your senses are tuned to the outside world,it may take a few mornings to start to really experience the sensations that each breath brings to your system. Do not give up if it takes awhile. You are just trained to look outside and not at the depths of your spirit where the real power lies.
Give it a try and you will start to see a new calm in your life and a renewed strength for your day. There is alot more to learn yet even a small change can have a huge impact on your life! We all have dreams that we want to achieve so give yourself a chance to have the power to get there.
Enjoy a good breath today!!!!
